Ten years ago I moved up to Saranac Lake. During one of my visits I encountered Ironman Lake Placid. I didn’t know at that time that it would be something that would change my life! It was something that my boyfriend did, my friends had done, and well–I thought about.
My first eight years living here I volunteered. Seven of them in transition and for one of them I was silly enough to run my own aid station. What an experience–wow! Everyone kept saying, “You’re going to sign up”, “you’re going to do it”. I kept putting it off.
Here is my story about how I got into it. My plan was to provide detailed documentation of my training, how I was feeling and adjusting. Let’s just say-that didn’t happen. In the days leading up to Ironman I tried to write about what came to mind as I posted my thanks and appreciation on Facebook. I’ve included those stories and some others that didn’t make the Facebook cut!
